What is Community?

I was at a business conference last week and the theme was "Community". The question was posed to all of the attendees as to what community means to us.

I raced the St. Paddy's day 5k yesterday and it gave me an opportunity to really think about that question. For me, community is a network of friends and family that support one another on many different fronts. I think a lot of that also depends on each individuals passions and talents.

At the race, it really gave me a chance to recognize my friends and network of people who can maybe be a blessing.

I like it how when God is trying to tell me something, I keep getting the message everywhere I go, from church, to work, to 5k races, etc. I truly want and will play a positive role in my community. God has directed me on the talent/passion piece, now I just have to put together the action. I've outlined the following areas where I can help...
  1. Running - Natural born gift and in some way I'd like to help guide people to a relationship with Christ using this vehicle.
  2. Personal Finances - I'd love to help young adults navigate the world of personal financial management. Our country (government and citizens) in general are financially illiterate. I know, I've been there.
  3. Tutoring - Our kids are the future, I'd like to tutor kids in math and help those especially who may not have someone at home who can assist.
Form here, I will be actively pursuing how to put one or more of these gifts into action.  Pray for me.

You can because He did.
